The Glass Mobile

The Glass Mobile

The project was an implementation of the Pirate Party Germany’s “Glass House” and “I am a Pirate” giant poster campaign.

The Glass Mobile (GLM) consists of a converted trailer that corresponds to the glass house. To this end, some side panels were replaced with plastic panes and the interior was furnished with furniture—a unique eye-catcher unlike anything that had been seen before.

This vehicle started in Halle on September 11, 2009, and was on the road until September 26, 2009, for the Pirate Party’s federal election campaign in Germany. In about 34 cities, voters on the street were made aware of the current situation regarding surveillance and data retention in Germany, informed, and encouraged to vote.

On July 18, 2025, PPI e.V. took over the GLM and is making it operational again for the Pirate movement. The costs are being donated.

Once the GLM is operational again, it can be borrowed by branches of the Pirate movement at their own expense.
